Product Designer

The Product Designer will lead design for core products across web applications, tablets, and mobile applications. The role covers the end-to-end product experience, from administration screens used by small and medium-sized businesses to storefronts used by customers.

Responsibilities include gathering requirements, planning and generating ideas from the early stages of projects, leading the design process, and continuously improving usability and accessibility. The designer will understand development workflows, improve processes, involve stakeholders, and work closely with software engineers and other partners to develop design concepts and ensure high-quality implementation. The role also includes contributing feedback to the design system, supporting and mentoring designers and engineers, helping the team grow, and increasing the value of design within the company.

The design team works on products that provide digital infrastructure for local businesses. The product platform includes online shop creation, point-of-sale, cashless payments, reservations, and an AI-based business support application. Designers may propose and drive projects initiated from design and develop new solutions for the product portfolio. User understanding, UX improvement, data-based experimentation, and personalization are among the approaches described for improving products.

Required qualifications include experience designing web applications and developing an understanding of the web and users; strong written and verbal communication and attention to detail; a strong understanding of design tools such as Figma; knowledge and skills in graphic design, including layout, typography, color, and illustration; and experience working closely with software engineers and design team members. Preferred experience includes developing and operating design systems, understanding version-control systems such as Git and GitHub, and building user-friendly UI/UX with frontend frameworks such as React or Vue.

The position is full-time and based in Shibuya, Tokyo. Remote work is available, with at least two office working days per month generally required. The design team recommends Thursdays and Fridays as office days, subject to change, and individual teams may set additional rules. The working schedule is flextime with core hours from 12:00 to 16:00 and standard working hours of eight hours. The annual salary range is JPY 6,000,000 to JPY 14,000,000. The probationary period is three months under the same conditions as regular employment.
