Cashless Payment Terminal Infrastructure Engineer

This role designs, builds, operates and renews mission-critical infrastructure supporting cashless payment terminals and payment gateways. The environment combines on-premises systems with AWS, and the work covers stable service operation as well as migration to the next infrastructure platform.

Responsibilities include server design, construction and operation in on-premises and AWS environments; administration of Linux and Windows Server; maintenance, monitoring and incident response for payment infrastructure; organizing the current environment and designing and building the next platform; and implementing infrastructure configuration and operations in accordance with PCI DSS. The role also manages internal IT infrastructure using Microsoft 365 and Active Directory, including Entra ID, Intune and Defender for Endpoint (EDR). Additional duties include operational improvements, maintaining procedures and documentation, and handling projects in coordination with the server and network teams.

Applicants must have at least three years of experience building and operating servers in an on-premises or AWS environment, including Red Hat Linux, Amazon Linux or Windows Server. At least three years of experience managing internal devices with Microsoft 365 or Active Directory is also required, particularly experience operating Entra ID, Intune and Defender for Endpoint (EDR).

Experience operating physical on-premises servers or physical storage servers, building and operating container or serverless environments on AWS, managing PCI DSS environments, or working as an internal systems engineer is welcome.

The role supports business payment solutions and is part of a server team of three people working with a four-person network team under a department manager. Although server and network responsibilities are separated, the teams collaborate closely on projects. Existing members provide on-the-job training covering the current infrastructure and operating procedures, with responsibilities expanded gradually as the successful candidate learns payment-specific requirements and operations.

The position is permanent and full-time in Chiyoda, Tokyo. Office attendance is the basic arrangement, while remote work may be used depending on the work.
