Effect Engineer, Game Engine

The role designs and develops runtime systems and tools for visual effects used on game consoles. The position involves developing visual-effect technology within the company’s proprietary game engine and pursuing low-level optimization.

Required qualifications include knowledge of graphics APIs such as DirectX and OpenGL, professional experience using C or C++, experience developing shaders with technologies such as HLSL, general computer graphics knowledge, knowledge of GPU operation, and linear algebra knowledge.

Preferred experience includes creating an original effect or particle system, developing GUI tools for Windows, and using effect middleware. The posting also seeks candidates who like pursuing low-level optimization and who consistently follow the latest research.

The position is a regular employee role in principle, although the posting notes that contract or outsourced arrangements may also apply. The listed annual salary range is ¥4.5 million to ¥12 million, determined according to experience and ability. A semiannual performance incentive is available outside the annual salary, and the annual salary includes prescribed overtime and late-night work allowances. The listed work locations are offices in Shibuya and Meguro, Tokyo.

Working hours are 10:00 to 19:00, with eight scheduled working hours and a 60-minute break from 13:00 to 14:00. Average monthly overtime is approximately 18.5 hours based on 2025 results. Regular employees receive a two-day weekend system with Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays off, summer leave, year-end and New Year holidays, paid leave, and condolence leave.
