Lead technology for healthcare products including an online medical consultation service. Design architectures, improve CI/CD and development processes, plan modernization, support prototypes, and guide engineers through code reviews.
About this role
The engineer will design and develop applications in the Medical Experience Business, including the online medical consultation service curon. Depending on suitability and preferences, the role may also include operations, maintenance and product improvements. Potential products include curon, curon Medication Support for pharmacies, the cashless service Curon Smart Pass, the online pill prescription service Pillmaru, and MiROHA, a digital solution for pharmaceutical clinical development.
Responsibilities include developing and modifying new application features and working with business-side members to create new healthcare businesses. Engineers take ownership of their work, learn about medical systems and business requirements while developing services, and deepen their understanding through discussion with experienced healthcare professionals on the business team. The role may also include building and scaling development teams and participating in management, depending on the candidate’s interests.
Required experience includes involvement in the design and development of an in-house product; application development and operations experience with Ruby on Rails, Next, or React Native with TypeScript; experience improving a product as part of a team with a product manager or designer; and documentation of information needed for product development. Experience launching a project or product from zero and experience building or operating infrastructure as code, such as Terraform, are welcomed.
The curon frontend is written entirely in TypeScript. Development generally follows an agile process based on sprints, with weekly or biweekly sprint meetings and priorities informed by user feedback and product strategy. Engineers and designers meet weekly, and development assignments consider skills, preferences and areas in which members want to grow. The infrastructure team provides the development environment, while engineers can participate in technical selection. Technical support engineers help investigate and resolve technically oriented user inquiries between customer support and development teams.
