Game AI Engineer, Game Engine

The Game AI Engineer develops systems that control game-character actions and builds programs for character action control. The role also involves developing systems for game-character AI and AI-related systems such as navigation meshes.

Required qualifications are deep knowledge of game AI and professional experience using C or C++. Preferred experience includes developing games for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or PC; developing game AI systems; and knowledge of pathfinding, navigation meshes, state machines, and behavior trees. Experience developing tools on Windows is also welcomed.

The position supports game development using the proprietary Cyllista Game Engine. The role involves working with game designers by actively hearing their requests and making proposals. This is a full-time position based in Tokyo, with workplaces in Shibuya and Meguro. The standard schedule is 10:00 to 19:00, including eight scheduled working hours and a 60-minute break from 13:00 to 14:00. Average monthly overtime was approximately 18.5 hours in 2025. The annual salary is 4.5 million to 12 million yen, determined according to experience and ability. A semiannual performance incentive is available outside the annual salary, which includes prescribed overtime and late-night work allowances. Example annual salaries are 6 million yen at age 28, 6.5 million yen at age 31, and 8 million yen at age 39.

The regular holiday schedule is a complete two-day weekend on Saturdays and Sundays, plus public holidays. Leave includes three summer days taken between July 1 and November 30, year-end and New Year leave from December 29 to January 3, annual paid leave of 10 days granted on the joining date for first-year employees, and condolence leave.
