Playing Architect / Senior Engineering Manager

This full-time role combines hands-on architecture and development with engineering management for GENIEE SFA/CRM as it expands in the enterprise market. The position connects customer-specific problem solving with development of the standard product.

The role leads requirements definition and design by examining business needs, technical feasibility, and opportunities to use AI. It involves entering customer and business-side work, conducting hands-on proofs of concept, selecting architectures, and presenting technical solutions for complex enterprise requirements. Customer insights are fed back into core product features.

Responsibilities include setting development-organization goals, defining and operating KGI and KPI measures linked to business plans and the product roadmap, maintaining delivery quality, cost, and schedule, and defining the Definition of Done for projects. The manager oversees the engineering organization, including hiring plans, member goal setting and evaluation, one-to-one meetings, development, and mentoring.

The role also establishes AI-assisted development processes from requirements definition through code generation and automated testing. Named tools and technologies include JAPAN AI, Claude, CodeRabbit, and other AI coding, code-review, and requirements-support tools. The position provides design guidance, hands-on code reviews, technical-debt reduction, and development support.

Required qualifications are at least three years of professional web-application development using modern technologies such as Python, TypeScript, or React; at least five years of engineering-organization management; experience covering hiring, goal setting, evaluation, and member development; and experience improving development processes and productivity with generative AI. Experience organizing the use of generative AI between product management, QA, and other functions is also required, or candidates must show strong interest and execution ability in this area.

Preferred experience includes enterprise or SIer development delivery, requirements organization and documentation in constrained environments, transformation during a scale-up or business transition, legacy replacement, re-architecture, system-scale strategy, CTO/CPO/PO work, large-scale data systems, SFA/CRM or large SaaS products, agreement-building with business and executive stakeholders, and external technical communication through OSS, technical publications, or conferences. Conversational English is listed as a welcome qualification. Japanese proficiency of N1 or above is required, and interviews can be conducted in Japanese.

The work location is in Shinjuku, Tokyo, and two work-from-home days per week are possible. Working hours are 10:00 to 19:00, with Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays off. Annual salary is JPY 13 million to 22 million, with a monthly salary of JPY 928,571 to 1,571,429, fixed overtime pay for 45 hours, additional payment for overtime beyond that, and bonuses twice a year. The position is a regular employee role with a one-month probationary period.
