Quantitative Developer

This Quantitative Developer role is part of the BQuant Desktop Team in the Sales and Client Service business area. The team works with existing and prospective clients to address business needs using BQuant, a Python-based quantitative platform.

The role involves consulting with clients on investment strategies and research, helping them develop and implement those strategies through BQuant. Responsibilities cover the full development lifecycle, including demonstrations for prospective clients, requirements gathering, prototyping, implementation, deployment and adoption. The developer will also create tactical BQuant applications with Sales teams to support revenue opportunities for Bloomberg Terminals and improve workflow efficiency for existing customers.

The position includes supporting client strategy and migration projects that use BQuant, driving adoption of the BQuant Desktop platform, and working with Product Development and Software Engineering teams on improvements to the platform. Training and team support provide exposure to the Bloomberg Terminal, Bloomberg APIs, BQuant, financial markets and investment processes on both the buy-side and sell-side. The role also provides experience with open-source Python technologies for advanced data visualizations, widgets and analytics.

Applicants need three to eight years of experience in financial services or a financial technology company, experience developing financial models with Python, and experience with at least one asset class such as equities, fixed income, commodities or foreign exchange. The posting also requires a strategic mindset, commercial judgment when evaluating project opportunities, confidence in highly articulate and consultative client interactions, and strong presentation and communication skills in both Japanese and English.

Experience or qualifications in data science and cloud computing are desirable. The work location is Tokyo.
