Lead Full-Stack Engineer

This role develops and operates Iris, the management interface used by corporate-card customers and internal staff. Iris is a white-label platform that enables multiple partners to provide corporate-card services under their own brands from a shared codebase.

Responsibilities cover both frontend and backend work, from specification and requirements definition through implementation and operation. The engineer develops customer-facing and internal management features, designs and implements multi-brand support, and works with teams responsible for card issuance, billing, credit and underwriting to design and implement APIs. The role also involves collaborating with the product manager and business stakeholders, preparing architecture decision records, contributing to technical decisions, and taking part in design reviews, code reviews and mob programming.

The product uses TypeScript across the frontend, backend and API contracts. The frontend stack includes React, Vite, TanStack Router, TanStack Query, React Hook Form, Zod, Radix UI, shadcn/ui, Tailwind CSS and i18next. The backend uses Node.js, Hono, Prisma, PostgreSQL on Cloud SQL, nice-grpc, pino and OpenTelemetry with Cloud Trace and Cloud Monitoring.

The architecture includes Clean Architecture, a React and Vite single-page application with a Hono BFF, and schema-driven development that generates OpenAPI, Zod and Protobuf artifacts from TypeSpec. Integrations use REST APIs, webhook delivery queues, Pub/Sub subscribers and gRPC according to the use case. The infrastructure uses Google Cloud Platform services including Cloud Run Service and Job, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Tasks, Cloud Scheduler, Secret Manager and Cloud KMS. Frontend delivery is handled through Cloudflare CDN, a GCP load balancer and a Cloud Storage bucket.

The development environment includes pnpm workspaces, Devbox, process-compose, Biome, ESLint, Vitest and Playwright for end-to-end and visual regression testing. GitHub Actions is used for CI/CD, end-to-end testing, visual regression testing, container vulnerability scanning, gitleaks, semgrep and actionlint. Other named tools include GitHub, Slack, Notion, Linear and Figma. Claude Code, Devin and Codex are incorporated into requirements, implementation, review, release and incident-response workflows, with the team designing and operating its own skills, agents and instructions.

The team follows an agile process with one-week Scrum sprints covering refinement, planning and retrospectives. A one-hour synchronous team session is held each afternoon for mob programming, ticket refinement and issue resolution. The listed location is the Tokyo office, while the posting states full remote work and full flextime.
