Design and operate AWS security controls, review architectures and code, automate security checks, and improve incident response, vulnerability management, and safe AI-assisted development.

About this role

This full-time security engineer role in the CQO Office focuses on improving organization-wide security and protecting user data. Daily responsibilities include designing, implementing, and operating security controls for cloud infrastructure, primarily on AWS. The engineer collaborates with software engineers and SREs on architecture reviews and code and infrastructure security reviews, and uses scripts and tools to automate security checks. The role also covers incident response, vulnerability management, and continuous improvement of security processes and guidelines.

The position is hands-on. It requires practical experience as a security engineer, infrastructure engineer, SRE, or software engineer with substantial security involvement. Required experience includes designing, building, and operating secure environments with AWS or another major cloud platform; practical scripting or programming with Python, shell, or similar technologies; threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, and secure code review in development or DevOps contexts; and incorporating security into CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and container-based development processes. The ability to explain risks and countermeasures clearly to both engineering and non-engineering audiences is also required.

Preferred experience includes security design and operations for large, highly available AWS systems; security automation using Claude, Cursor, Codex, or other modern development-support platforms; secure coding, API security, and OWASP Top 10; and incident response, log analysis, and security monitoring in cloud-native environments. Information security or cloud security qualifications and training are optional. Experience developing AI systems or developing with AI tools is also sought.

The engineer works across development, infrastructure, product, and other functions. The role includes evaluating, introducing, and operating AI development-support tools and creating mechanisms for their safe use. It also involves identifying risks in systems and development processes, proposing practical countermeasures, supporting secure and productive engineering workflows, and establishing reusable components and best practices for a stronger organization-wide security baseline.

Japanese proficiency is not required. English proficiency equivalent to TOEIC 700 or higher is required; equivalent qualifications or experience may be discussed, and applicants without an equivalent qualification may be asked to take a designated test during the selection process. The position is based in Minato, Tokyo, with a hybrid work style: two office days per week are generally mandatory and three or more office days are recommended, subject to company and business circumstances. Working hours are generally 9:30–18:30 with a 60-minute break, under a discretionary work system where applicable, with possible flextime. The employment is permanent with a three-month probationary period. Annual salary is ¥6,408,000–¥11,004,000, including fixed allowances for 45 hours of overtime and 40 hours of late-night work. A high-performance bonus may be paid based on semiannual evaluations and company performance. Benefits include social insurance, nearby housing support, a relocation benefit, rent salary deduction, health examinations, book-purchase assistance, a corporate defined-contribution pension, an employee stock ownership plan, and selected service discounts. The selection process may include a casual interview, document screening, a primary interview, multiple additional interviews, a final interview, reference checks, and an offer meeting.
