Server-side Engineer

The server-side engineer designs, develops, tests, and operates web services and social games. Responsibilities include building development environments, including servers and databases, creating mockups, programming, unit testing, and version control. The role also improves program performance by reducing operational load.

Required qualifications are practical experience with server programming and the knowledge or experience to carry out the full process from environment construction through programming and testing.

Preferred experience includes game development and operation in a LAMP environment; development, operation, and release work for high-load services; development of websites for smartphones; and development using shell scripts, Python, Ruby, or Node.js. The posting also lists experience designing or implementing server-side data communication and asynchronous communication, and designing, building, or operating databases such as MySQL.

Additional preferred skills include development and operations using cloud services such as AWS or GCP; knowledge or experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes; load testing and performance measurement with tools such as JMeter; English sufficient for daily conversation and understanding technical documents; experience designing, developing, or building authentication and authorization platforms such as OAuth and JWT; and experience using generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT for development or work.

This is a full-time position. The stated working hours are 10:00–19:00, with eight scheduled working hours and a 60-minute break from 13:00–14:00. Average monthly overtime was approximately 18.5 hours in 2025. The work locations are in Shibuya and Meguro, Tokyo. The offices are generally non-smoking indoors, with dedicated heated-tobacco smoking rooms. The position has a five-day workweek from Monday to Friday, public holidays off, summer leave, year-end and New Year holidays, paid annual leave, and condolence leave.
