SRE Manager

The SRE Manager supports the infrastructure of in-house SSP and DSP products in the ad technology division. The SSP serves approximately 5,000 media properties and handles about 90 billion impressions per month, while the DSP uses machine-learning technology. The platform processes high volumes of requests at low latency, including ad delivery within 100 milliseconds.

The role designs, builds, operates, and improves an on-premises private cloud rather than relying entirely on public cloud services. Responsibilities include managing OpenStack and Kubernetes environments, designing and operating Kubernetes clusters, managing network configurations, selecting and building middleware, tuning performance, and planning capacity. The position also leads improvements to CI/CD and monitoring and provides technical support to team members.

The role includes designing a cloud-native ecosystem and integrating observability. The integrated observability platform covers metrics, logs, tracing, and profiling. Experience with incident response, root-cause analysis, performance improvement, and capacity planning is required, as is practical infrastructure design, construction, and operations experience using public clouds such as AWS, GCP, or Azure for at least three years. Candidates must also have Kubernetes cluster construction and operations experience, observability and performance-improvement experience, and practical experience building and operating infrastructure as code.

Experience operating SRE or infrastructure for large-scale or high-traffic services is welcomed. Additional preferred experience includes designing and implementing replication, sharding, or migration for RDB or NoSQL systems at scale; designing, building, or upgrading Kubernetes clusters, etcd, CNI, or CSI; investigating incidents and analyzing performance at the Linux kernel or network layer; and working with SLI/SLO, on-call operations, incident response, technology selection, or member support.

The SRE team has four members in the Infrastructure Department of the Technology Strategy Headquarters. The position is based in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Up to two days of work from home per week are possible, subject to change. Working hours are 10:00–19:00, with Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays off. The employment type is full-time, with a one-month trial period.

The listed annual salary is 10,000,000–18,000,000 JPY. The posting also lists monthly pay from 715,000 JPY, including base pay from 529,018 JPY and a fixed overtime allowance from 185,982 JPY for 50 hours; overtime beyond 50 hours is paid separately.
