About this role

This full-time position sits in the AI Supply Chain Solution division of a company founded in March 2022 by the Marubeni Group together with publishers Kodansha, Shogakukan, and Shueisha, with the aim of using DX to make Japan's publishing distribution more sustainable. As a system-development member, the engineer helps build the publishing-distribution platform, a B2B web application intended to lead the future of the industry. The division plans to grow to 50 or more people.

Responsibilities cover frontend and backend development of the web application as well as cloud architecture design and infrastructure development, optimizing the supply chain end-to-end across publishers, distributors, and bookstores. Depending on the individual's wishes, experience, and skill set, there is the possibility of taking on a Tech Lead role leading development or managing members. The team actively adopts managed services and new technologies.

The stack includes TypeScript, Python, and Terraform; React / React Router, Hono, FastAPI, Vitest, and Storybook; Cloud Run, BigQuery, AlloyDB, Elasticsearch, and Firebase for infrastructure; Docker; and GitHub Actions and Cloud Build for CI/CD. Development follows Scrum and Kanban. Generative AI/LLM tooling (Gemini, Claude, GPT via platforms such as Vertex AI) is integrated across design, implementation, review, and CI.

Work location is the Toranomon head office in Minato-ku, Tokyo, combined with home working (office attendance from about once a week) and a satellite office.
