Depending on the assignment, responsibilities include planning business and customer strategies, researching markets, analyzing data, identifying customer issues, preparing proposals, negotiating contracts, and building customer relationships. The role may support customers from initial issue identification through business reform, consulting, IT or system and solution proposals, implementation, and adoption. DX consultants join projects that promote customers' digital transformation, build long-term partner relationships, and formulate DX strategies and plans based on their business knowledge.

Customers span industries including automotive, steel, food, pharmaceutical, chemical, materials, energy, transportation, entertainment, distribution, and retail. Assignments can range from small, short-term digital proof-of-concept projects to proposals for large, mission-critical systems. Sales activity is generally based on proposals for the customer's future state rather than cold calls or door-to-door sales, and many customers have long-standing relationships.

Applicants must have at least one of the following: one or more years of corporate sales experience in the IT industry; one or more years of business experience or problem-solving experience in distribution or retail; or one or more years of business experience or data-analysis experience in manufacturing. Experience in SI sales or consulting, and experience proposing or implementing business reform using IT, are preferred. No specific qualification is required. English or another language is desirable, but no other language is listed as a requirement. Information-processing examinations and vendor certifications related to cloud, databases, or networks are listed as desirable.
