About this role

The Head of Communications leads the communications function for Kyoto Fusioneering and its products and solutions. The role is responsible for building and operating a team covering media relations, internal communications, branding and marketing, and content and events. The team currently has two members.

Responsibilities include setting the overall plan based on business goals, securing and allocating resources, establishing cross-functional collaboration, measuring and reporting performance against KPIs, and driving continuous improvement. The role also serves as a communications adviser to the executive team, providing recommendations on external messages, positioning, and engagement with outside stakeholders.

The position works with business divisions, corporate planning, legal, HR, and investor relations to align the content and direction of external communications across the organization. It also plans and delivers programs to increase executive visibility, including speaking engagements, media relations, and information dissemination.

Required experience includes managing public relations and communications from strategy through execution in a growth-stage company or resource-constrained environment. Candidates must be able to handle both PR and marketing communications, build and maintain relationships with major domestic media, proactively secure important coverage, and manage external PR, creative, and digital agencies or contractors, including direction, budget control, and performance evaluation. The role requires the ability to explain specialized and technical subjects clearly to different audiences, collaborate across departments, and influence senior decision-makers. Native-level Japanese writing and expression, or equivalent, and business-level English for internal and external communication are required.

Experience supporting external communications for fundraising, M&A, or an IPO; working with academic stakeholders; communicating technical topics at a technology company; and using digital media and social networks is welcome. A bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field is also welcome, although equivalent practical experience is acceptable.

The position is based at the Tokyo headquarters in Ota-ku, Tokyo. Work at the Tokyo satellite office in Marunouchi may be possible from June 2026. Remote work is negotiable for people living within commuting distance. The standard hours are 9:00 to 18:00 with a one-hour break, with a flextime system available under company rules. Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays are days off, with at least 120 annual holidays. The position is advertised as a full-time employee role, although hiring as a contract employee is also possible. Annual compensation is listed as 9,000,000 to 12,000,000 JPY in the job posting, with monthly salary terms and adjustments based on experience, company performance, and individual evaluation. Social insurance, welfare benefits, salary increases, and special paid leave at joining are provided.
