Freelance Technical Artist

This freelance technical artist role supports game development by building and improving development environments and workflows. Responsibilities include creating plugins for DCC tools, developing customization tools for game engines, managing art assets within game engines, verifying graphics specifications, and creating materials. The role also serves as a bridge between engineers and designers.

Applicants should approach their work with an awareness of efficiency and automation. Required experience includes supporting tools used by artists or working on art asset production, or equivalent practical experience and skills.

Experience as an artist, practical programming experience—especially with Python or C#—and practical experience with Unity or Unreal Engine are welcomed. The posting also lists experience with procedural modeling or dynamics production in Houdini, tool creation in Maya, support for Adobe products such as Photoshop, Substance 3D, and After Effects, efficiency-improvement work using Flow Production Tracking, and team management or leadership experience.

This is an outsourced freelance engagement. The work locations are offices in Shibuya and Meguro, Tokyo. Working location, workload, and compensation are discussed during an interview. Compensation is listed as 250,000 to 900,000 JPY per month, with the posting also stating that it is subject to consultation.
