About this role

This role researches and develops ways to use generative AI in the production of images, video, 3D models, and motion. The work focuses on balancing production efficiency and quality while promoting safe use of AI.

Responsibilities include building and improving asset-production pipelines using generative AI; researching, introducing, and tuning image-generation models such as Stable Diffusion and gpt-image, as well as video-generation models; and evaluating and operating tools for generating 3D models and motion. The role also integrates AI tools into internal production workflows through script and plugin development for DCC tools, and automates AI inference pipelines.

The technical artist proposes new production methods in collaboration with artists. Duties include adjusting AI outputs in line with art-direction policies, designing prompts for actual production, selecting models, and performing model fine-tuning.

Required experience includes production work with major DCC tools or game engines such as Maya, Blender, Unity, or Unreal Engine; tool development using Python, C#, MEL, or Blueprint; use of Stable Diffusion or other generative-AI tools for at least one of image, video, 3D, or motion production; and a basic understanding of art and design production workflows.

Preferred experience includes training or fine-tuning generative-AI models, building GPU rendering or inference environments, version control with Git or similar tools, collaboration with pipeline technical directors or R&D engineers, prompt design based on art direction, knowledge of real-time expression and optimization in game development, and use of MotionBuilder.

The listed tools and environment include Maya, Blender, MotionBuilder, Photoshop, Substance products, Unity, Unreal Engine, Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, ControlNet, Flux.1, FramePack, Python, C#, MEL, Blueprint, Git, ShotGrid, and Jira.

The position is a regular employee role in Tokyo, with possible contract or outsourced arrangements also mentioned. Working hours are 10:00–19:00, including eight scheduled working hours and a 60-minute break from 13:00–14:00. Average monthly overtime was approximately 18.5 hours in 2025.
