Engineering Director — Head of India Development Center

This Tokyo-based Engineering Director role leads GENIEE's India development center, covering technology, organization, and business. Responsibilities include designing and reviewing system architecture, hands-on development when needed, managing technical debt and incident response, and setting multi-year technology roadmaps. Duties also include researching competitors' tech stacks, planning security and other non-functional requirements, deepening understanding of business models and key customers, participating in Quarterly Business Reviews, and managing development-related costs including personnel, infrastructure, and systems. Organizational responsibilities include improving engineering motivation and engagement, developing future engineering managers and technical leaders, and improving development productivity, including through AI tools. The role collaborates with global development teams, including Japan, plus product managers and business divisions. Requirements: 7+ years of software development experience, 3+ years of engineering management experience including talent development, experience designing/reviewing architecture for large-scale web services or SaaS products, technology strategy experience, and business-level English communication. Preferred: global engineering management experience, AdTech domain experience, AWS/GCP experience, AI-driven process improvement, security/SRE/platform engineering knowledge, and prior CTO/VPoE/Director-level experience. Full-time position based at GENIEE's Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo office; salary negotiable based on experience.
