Senior Data Engineer

Based in Tokyo, the Senior Data Engineer will work on the Events and Transcripts Data team, which delivers company events and transcripts information. The role focuses on understanding customer needs, increasing value from Calendar events and Transcripts data, and improving data operations. It includes technical leadership, solution design, and end-to-end ownership of technical projects. The engineer will work with Quality Assurance leads and Data Quality specialists to integrate solutions into the wider architecture and collaborate with Product, Engineering, Sales, News and Data teams.

Key work includes designing, building and automating scalable workflows and data pipelines for data acquisition, quality control and operational processes. The role also covers data strategy and governance, alignment with Data Technologies, workflow interoperability and consistent ingestion across systems. Applicants need a bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field, or equivalent experience. At least three years of data engineering experience is required, including Python, SQL and/or NoSQL. Required experience also includes building and maintaining ETL or data pipelines, managing data at scale, and ingesting and normalizing data from multiple sources. Modern data tools cited include AWS S3, Lambda, Kafka and Airflow, as well as the Bloomberg stack.
