The Data & AI Platform Engineer joins the Core Platform Engineering group at CARTA ZERO. The team builds and operates the Vision data platform centered on Snowflake, designs data integrations, and develops applications that support the flow of data across the business. The role covers collecting data from business systems, transforming and modeling it in Snowflake, writing data back to operational systems, and designing and maintaining the overall flow.
The engineer will also build applications where existing tools are insufficient, along with the batch infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring needed to keep data operations stable. Over the medium term, the role includes designing and building an AI platform after master and business data have been structured. This includes designing LLM and AI-agent infrastructure and conducting proof-of-concepts and implementations that address business issues.
Required experience includes designing and developing backend applications, including API and database design; development and operations using SQL; development and operations on cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP; building and operating data pipelines using ETL or ELT tools and batch processing; developing and operating infrastructure as code with Terraform; building and operating CI/CD pipelines; and leading technical decisions while collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred experience includes building and operating data platforms with a data warehouse, particularly Snowflake; data modeling and transformation with dbt; building LLM or machine-learning infrastructure; and integrating multiple business systems. The listed technology stack includes Python, Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, TROCCO, and Terraform.
The team is supporting a large-scale migration and redesign of core systems following business integration and a mismatch between existing systems and business needs. The main migration phase is scheduled to begin in June 2026 and is expected to continue for about one year. The platform is being expanded from a product-focused data foundation into one that supports the wider business and future AI use.
This is a full-time permanent position employed by CARTA HOLDINGS and assigned to CARTA ZERO. The probationary period is three months with no change to working conditions. The expected annual salary is JPY 7.0 million to 12.0 million, with performance-based bonuses and incentives and salary reviews twice a year. The monthly package comprises a base salary of JPY 374,091 to 672,273, a JPY 55,000 life-plan support payment, fixed overtime pay for 45 hours of JPY 150,863 to 255,713, and fixed late-night pay for 15 hours of JPY 10,058 to 17,048; excess amounts are paid separately.
The stated work location is Minato, Tokyo. The standard schedule is 9:30 to 18:30, with eight scheduled working hours and a 60-minute break. A super flextime system is available without core hours, with flexible hours between 6:00 and 22:00. The stated location range includes company-designated locations, remote work, and secondment destinations. Holidays include Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, annual paid leave, bereavement leave, bonus leave, and wellbeing accumulated leave.
