Accountant

Sakana AI, a Japan-founded startup advancing foundational research and applied development in AI, is strengthening its finance and accounting function and hiring an Accountant for its Corporate Department. In a fast-growing technology company the team has to give stakeholders accurate financial reports, supply information for management decisions and build efficient accounting processes while the company keeps growing.

The accountant handles monthly, quarterly and annual closing, prepares disclosure documents, introduces accounting systems and improves processes, works with HR and labour staff and with business divisions on financial and accounting questions, and deals with auditors, including preparing submitted material and answering their questions.

Applicants need at least three years of practical experience in the accounting department of an operating company or in an accounting firm, covering the full accounting process. Experience in growth-stage start-ups and IPO preparation is welcome. The company wants someone precise, proactive about spotting inefficiency and risk, and able to work independently at start-up speed. Business-level Japanese conversation and document comprehension is required and interviews are held in Japanese.
