Data Management Consultant

The Data Management Consultant supports clients with data-use and data-management strategy development and execution. The role covers projects from launch through delivery and may involve working with multiple departments and members who bring different skills, knowledge, and experience. The consultant helps clients use internal and external data to create ongoing business value, considers the use of relevant knowledge and technologies, and may work as part of a client organization responsible for promoting the target initiatives.

The role also includes client-facing proposal work. This involves dialogue with clients, information gathering, analysis of problems and issues, explanation of the value provided by NEC and its consulting services, and proposals for consulting support. The work addresses data management across a broad scope, from source data through data analysis applications.

For section-chief or manager-level appointments and above, the posting requires experience in at least two of the following areas: data management based on DMBOK; data platforms including infrastructure and databases; data preparation such as data cleansing, ETL, and data preparation; and data utilization such as BI, AI, and data catalogs. Experience is also required in at least one of business requirements definition, system requirements definition, design and implementation, or project management. Candidates at these levels must have led a project or a specific area as a central member.

For section-chief-level appointments, the posting requires experience in at least one of the listed data management, data platform, data preparation, or data utilization areas, or experience in business requirements definition, system requirements definition, design and implementation, or project management. Listed preferred qualifications include data-utilization certifications such as the Statistics Certification, G Test, E qualification, or DS certification, as well as general IT certifications such as IT Passport or Fundamental Information Technology Engineer certification.

The position is expected to be a regular employee role and may be hired at section-chief, manager, or director level. People management applies when hired at manager or director level. The expected annual salary is approximately JPY 6.8–9.9 million for section-chief level, JPY 9.3–11.0 million for manager level, and JPY 10.0–14.0 million for director level. Monthly pay is approximately JPY 450,000–700,000, JPY 550,000–750,000, and JPY 650,000–900,000 respectively, with the stated basic salary portions varying by level. Previous salary is considered subject to company rules. The work location is the company building in Minato-ku, Tokyo. The stated location-change scope includes company-designated locations and, where applicable, locations used for telework.
