Intellectual Property Strategy Manager Candidate

Money Forward is hiring an Intellectual Property Strategy Manager Candidate for its IP Strategy Office, an independent unit under the corporate division that works closely with business units across more than 60 products. As AI changes IP work, the company wants IP that is tied to business strategy and creates competitive advantage, not only a function that files rights.

The person designs and promotes IP strategy starting from the question of what the business needs to win. This includes planning strategy for lasting advantage, designing an IP mix of patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights, supporting decisions with IP landscape analysis, designing global IP governance, and drawing out inventions with business teams. The person discusses directly with business heads, product managers and engineers. At first the work covers a specific IP area, and later it grows into planning and leading strategy and, in the medium term, a core leadership role.

Applicants need roughly five to seven or more years of IP work and basic patent knowledge, with software experience welcome. Working with business units, strategy planning, IP landscape and overseas IP experience are preferred. The role is hybrid, with office attendance at least twice a week.
