Sustainability Leader

The Sustainability Leader will work with the Chief Sustainability Officer to advance TBM’s sustainability initiatives. The role combines a long-term management perspective covering 10-, 20-, and 100-year horizons with hands-on work to address current business challenges.

Responsibilities may include reviewing the long-term vision and materiality, supporting the development of materials and products, assisting sales activities, strengthening public-relations and IR communications, and contributing to organizational development. The specific scope will be considered according to the candidate’s interests and strengths.

The role involves working with the development, supply-chain management, and manufacturing departments to plan sustainable products and promote environmental and social consideration throughout the supply chain. It also involves collaborating with sales and marketing to create systems that communicate product value accurately and attractively, and with the communications department to strengthen sustainability-related PR and IR communication. Other sustainability planning and implementation initiatives are also possible.

The required qualification is enthusiasm for and interest in the sustainability field. Experience in sustainability is not required. A clearly developed area of strength gained through focused work is welcome, even if it is outside sustainability. English communication ability and practical English experience are welcome but are not stated as requirements.

The position is a full-time role in Chiyoda, Tokyo, at a company developing environmentally considerate materials and products and promoting resource circulation. Working hours are 9:00–18:00, including a 60-minute break. Holidays include Sundays, national holidays, December 30 through January 3, and other company-designated days; Saturdays are generally included among the designated holidays. The posting states an annual salary of ¥4,000,000–¥6,000,000, determined by skills, experience, and potential, under a daily-rate monthly salary system. Benefits include a housing allowance subject to conditions, furniture-moving assistance subject to conditions, commuting allowance up to ¥30,000, special leave at joining, a shortened-hours system, and an awards program.
