About this role

The IT Auditor conducts internal audit and monitoring activities covering Mizuho Financial Group and its group companies, including Mizuho Bank. The role focuses on IT governance, system risk management, development project controls, and other areas of IT general controls.

Responsibilities include assessing governance and control structures based on group-company risk assessments and IT incident trends, setting audit priorities, and preparing annual audit plans. The auditor examines system configurations, implementation vulnerabilities, system development controls, maintenance and operation controls, and system risk management and governance. The role follows identified issues through root-cause analysis, remediation guidance, improvement proposals, audit reporting to management, and post-audit follow-up.

The position also supports continuous monitoring by collecting and analyzing external developments, outages, and incidents. It contributes to risk-based audit scoping, identification of structural issues, audit planning for emerging risks, responses to AI and regulatory changes, and advisory-style audits intended to support management decision-making and governance improvements.

The internal audit group includes multiple audit teams that collaborate on complex risks. The role may therefore involve organizational development, operational improvement, and contributions based on the auditor’s individual strengths. The group covers domestic and overseas operations and works with financial business functions, IT, and cybersecurity governance across the organization.

Required qualifications include experience in IT audit, such as auditing IT general controls, IT application controls, information security controls, or system configurations and implementation vulnerabilities. Experience may come from internal audit at a financial or non-financial company or external audit at an audit firm. CIA, CISA, CISSP, information technology, and information security qualifications are preferred. Experience making IT recommendations from management and business perspectives, or a willingness to develop in this area, is also welcomed.
