About this role

This full-time role covers business planning and application support for in-vitro diagnostic products, including in-vitro diagnostic reagents and testing instruments. The primary focus may be business planning or applications, depending on the candidate’s suitability and discussion with the company.

Business planning responsibilities include working with research institutions on new technology development through product planning, and coordinating with related departments during new product launches. The role also oversees the review of promotional materials for the domestic market and leads exhibition activities at academic conferences.

Application responsibilities include application setup and validation support when testing instruments are introduced, technical support and troubleshooting to help obtain accurate data from testing reagents, and support for planning and operating booths at academic conferences and exhibitions. The position also delivers technical presentations.

Candidates should have practical experience in a hospital laboratory or testing center; sales or academic experience in the medical industry such as DMR, MR, MSL, or CRA; experience in marketing, academic affairs, or medical affairs at an in-vitro diagnostic pharmaceutical manufacturer; or research or product development experience involving in-vitro diagnostics. A strong ability to communicate with healthcare professionals and build trusted relationships is required, along with the ability to identify issues independently and work with related departments to resolve them.

Preferred experience includes a clinical laboratory technologist qualification, practical experience in immunological or biochemical testing, presenting at academic conferences or study sessions, preparing or reviewing marketing materials, planning promotions, KPI management, data analysis, and a regular driver’s license.

The role is based at Canon’s Shimomaruko headquarters in Ota, Tokyo. Working hours are 8:30–17:00. The position is permanent employment. Overtime pay is provided separately except when hired as a manager subject to management supervision. Compensation is determined based on experience and ability; the posting lists annual compensation of JPY 4.3 million to JPY 8.7 million. Salary increases are once a year and bonuses are paid twice a year. Benefits and conditions include full transportation reimbursement, full overtime allowance, social insurance, retirement benefits, corporate pension, defined contribution savings, an employee stock ownership association, mutual aid, education programs, childcare-related reduced working hours, resort and sports facilities, and internal events. Holidays include a two-day weekly schedule, generally weekends, public holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, a May holiday period, summer leave, and 125 annual holidays. Paid annual leave is 20 days, depending on the joining month in the first year, with additional refresh, bereavement, and company vacation programs.
