About this role

Newmo is a mobility startup working on regional transportation. The Legal role supports the company as it expands taxi-company M&A and capital participation across Japan and considers future mobility, including autonomous driving.

Daily responsibilities include legal checks for business development, examining structures for new businesses, and addressing legal issues that arise during implementation. The role responds to legal consultations from internal departments and drafts and reviews contracts and terms of use.

The position covers M&A and business alliances, including contract negotiations and due diligence for taxi-company acquisitions and capital participation nationwide. It also provides legal support during the post-merger integration process after acquisitions.

Corporate governance duties include operating general meetings of shareholders and board of directors meetings, handling various registration work, and preparing, maintaining, and revising internal rules and manuals.

The role is expected to make practical legal judgments and implement workable solutions that balance business speed and soundness. Rather than only identifying legal risks, it addresses how requirements can be operated in practice. The position works closely with management, business leaders, and Human Resources on legal issues and problems arising as the business expands, helping move daily operations forward.
