This role is part of the Global Investment Banking Division’s Investment Banking Headquarters, within Advisory Departments One through Five. The person will provide M&A financial advisory services, including originating and executing domestic and cross-border M&A transactions.
The position is available at two levels: Junior Banker, covering Analyst and Associate positions, and Senior Banker, covering Vice President and Director positions. Junior candidates must have at least two years of M&A financial advisory experience at an investment bank, accounting firm, M&A boutique, bank or other financial institution, law firm, or operating company. They must be able to create comparable-company analysis and DCF valuation models and have basic knowledge of company law, taxation, and accounting. Experience using information vendors such as FactSet, Capital IQ, or SPEEDA is required.
Senior candidates must have five to seven or more years of M&A financial advisory experience in an investment bank, accounting firm, M&A boutique, bank or other financial institution, law firm, or operating company. They must also have practical project management experience on M&A transactions under the supervision of a project manager or senior professional such as an MD, ED, or D. Knowledge of a specific industry is not required, although relevant industry expertise is welcomed.
English proficiency at a TOEIC score of 800 or above is desirable for junior bankers and required for senior bankers. Junior candidates are expected to be able to take notes during English conference calls. Japanese proficiency at native level is required.
The position is full-time and indefinite-term, with a six-month probationary period. Standard working hours are 8:40 to 17:10, consisting of 7.5 working hours and a 60-minute break. Flextime may apply depending on the assigned department. Overtime and holiday work may be required. The position is based in Tokyo, with the possibility of transfer to an overseas office after gaining a certain amount of experience in Japan.
