DX Promotion Specialist

This role drives AI- and data-based digital transformation for Kubota Group’s environmental plant business, including wastewater treatment plants. The work focuses on improving control systems, optimizing plant operations, and creating additional value through data use.

Daily responsibilities include analyzing and evaluating plant operation data using data analysis platforms such as Python and Databricks. The role also develops AI-based operational control algorithms and advances systems from proof of concept through implementation for practical operation. The position is responsible for the core of data-utilization systems rather than only data visualization or monitoring.

Required qualifications include at least two years of practical experience in data analysis and machine learning using Python, as well as experience analyzing plant or manufacturing data. In addition, candidates must have either experience analyzing and implementing solutions with a data-utilization platform such as Databricks or cloud platforms, or experience implementing a proof of concept or business system.

Preferred qualifications include experience developing AI-based control or optimization algorithms; knowledge of reinforcement learning, mathematical optimization, or control engineering; experience building MLOps or cloud-native systems; Databricks or Apache Spark certifications; and cloud data engineering or machine-learning certifications.

The position is based at the Tokyo office in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Remote work is available, with an expected office attendance of about once a week by consultation; some duties require coming to the office. Work outside the Tokyo area and fully remote arrangements may also be discussed individually. Working hours are 8:30–17:15, including a 45-minute break, with flextime scheduling available. Overtime work may occur. The position is full-time and permanent, with a six-month probationary period under unchanged conditions.

The annual holiday total is 125 days, with Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays off, plus paid leave and other stated leave programs. Salary is estimated at JPY 5,000,000–8,000,000 per year, including overtime pay, with twice-yearly bonuses and annual salary increases.
