Presales / Solution Engineer

This role provides presales and solution engineering for manufacturing customers, mainly large electronics companies, in the factory DX and smart-factory domain. Responsibilities cover the phase before an order through software requirements definition and subsequent implementation support. The work includes interviewing customers about operational challenges with sales teams, visiting factories to investigate current operations, organizing issues, and analyzing and visualizing current-state business flows and manufacturing processes.

The role develops operational improvement plans and DX concepts based on the customer’s target state. It organizes business, functional, and non-functional requirements; defines software requirements; identifies integration requirements with equipment, core systems, and peripheral systems; and designs solutions combining Panasonic software, third-party software, and engineering services. It also establishes implementation steps, priorities, and roadmaps, coordinates requirements and specifications with internal development teams, external partners, and Panasonic Group departments, launches implementation projects, supports project execution and operations, and proposes improvements after verifying results.

The department supports digitalization, automation, and DX initiatives at manufacturing sites, using IT and industrial engineering, systems integration, and engineering to address customer problems. The business provides production equipment, software, and operation and maintenance solutions for electronics assembly and semiconductor manufacturing processes and works to optimize customers’ overall manufacturing processes.

Required experience includes practical experience in IT implementation projects for manufacturing, such as ERP in production management, MES, warehouse management systems, or production schedulers; upstream experience in manufacturing business-system implementation, including business requirements, functional requirements, or requirements definition; practical experience in production management or production engineering; or practical experience improving manufacturing operations at a factory. Basic knowledge of production management, production engineering, or production-management systems such as ERP and MES, and an understanding of planning, manufacturing, and shop-floor processes are required. Experience with ERP, MES, or production schedulers, industrial engineering, project leadership or project management, and presales through requirements definition is welcomed. TOEIC 550 or above and willingness to use English are welcomed because overseas customers and factories may be involved.

The position is full-time and based in Shinagawa, Tokyo or Toyonaka, Osaka. Standard working hours are 8:30–17:00, with a flextime system and no core hours; overtime may occur. Remote work is available, with attendance expected two to three days per week. Overseas business trips occur approximately once per quarter. The position is permanent, with a probationary period generally lasting three months from the start date.
