This role is part of the Syndicate Section in the Third Department of Debt Capital Markets. The team is recruiting a member responsible for yen-denominated bonds and primarily handles bond syndication for institutional and individual investors in Japan.
Main responsibilities include presenting terms to seek lead-manager mandates and, after appointment as lead manager, negotiating directly or indirectly with both issuers and investors to successfully complete bond offerings. The team handles several hundred transactions throughout the year, with individual transactions often completed within a few days. The work requires repeated situation assessment, decision-making and coordination with stakeholders within short periods.
Applicants must have accurate analytical and logical-thinking skills, the ability to execute at speed, business experience, communication ability and stress tolerance. Basic PC skills using Excel, Word and PowerPoint for document preparation are required; simple functions and macros are frequently used. The Type 1 Securities Sales Representative qualification is required, although it may be obtained after joining.
Leadership experience in team-based work and syndication experience at another securities company are welcomed. The role is full-time and based at the Marunouchi office in Chiyoda, Tokyo. It is basically office-based, although employees may work from home in the morning or evening when transactions are quiet or due to family circumstances. Working hours are 8:40 to 17:10 with a one-hour break. Holidays include a five-day workweek with Saturdays and Sundays off, public holidays and year-end/New Year holidays.
