About this role

PLAID's Financial Control (Accounting) function is responsible for group-wide accounting. The scope is assigned according to the candidate's experience, skills and preferences and includes leading or performing monthly, quarterly and annual standalone and consolidated closing. The role also supports the accounting of subsidiaries on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Key responsibilities include determining and improving accounting treatment for SaaS-specific revenue recognition, including IFRS; preparing disclosures required under Japan's Financial Instruments and Exchange Act and the Companies Act, including annual securities reports; and working with the audit firm to organize accounting issues and respond to audits. The role develops and operates internal controls, handles J-SOX internal-control audits, improves and standardizes processes, promotes systematization, and drives related projects. It also designs and maintains financial-accounting data structures based on a detailed understanding of management decision-making policies.

The Financial Control team has three regular employees and six contract employees. Contract employees mainly perform routine accounting work, while regular employees primarily examine accounting issues, build and improve processes, conduct final reviews of accounting treatment, and examine accounting and tax matters related to M&A. The team works closely with business divisions. M&A and new-product launches create changing requirements, so the accounting team discusses matters with the business on a case-by-case basis and converts agreed approaches into processes that routine-accounting staff can use.

PLAID provides the KARTE CX platform and also operates service businesses. The business models named in the posting include SaaS, consulting, advertising and AI. Within the finance organization, Financial Control handles accounting, closing and internal controls. Corporate Finance & IR handles finance, M&A and investor relations, and frequently coordinates with the separate Corporate Planning and FP&A organization. The role can participate in new-business planning and complex sales-flow design, from defining revenue recognition through designing the overall sales operation. It can also contribute to accounting and cross-functional sales-process integration during post-merger integration.

The work location is the head office at GINZA SIX 10F, 6-10-1 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 104-0061, within the company's designated locations. The working arrangement is hybrid, combining office and remote work. The company may request a set number of office days based on company and team circumstances; currently, the business side is generally in the office three days per week.
