About this role
The Financial Sponsors team works with global and domestic private equity funds located in Japan. The role involves sourcing investment opportunities for PE funds and proposing and executing exit transactions.
During a fund’s investment phase, the role identifies potential transactions such as business succession, take-private and carve-out opportunities, working with internal departments and providing M&A advisory services. During the exit phase, the role provides and promotes IPO and M&A advisory services, including fund IPOs and sell-side financial advisory for fund assets.
The position carries significant discretion because the employee is expected to manage deals directly. The team handles a large deal flow and can use the company’s internal resources extensively to advance transactions.
Required capabilities include the ability to build relationships with clients and communicate effectively with domestic and international related departments to complete transactions. Experience in capital markets or M&A advisory is welcomed, as are first-level Securities Analysts qualifications and English ability. Backgrounds in financial institutions’ investment or lending divisions, private equity investment divisions, securities companies’ or investment banks’ coverage, ECM, IPO or M&A divisions, strategy or accounting consulting firms, law firms and accounting firms are also welcomed.
The position is full-time and based at the company’s Marunouchi office in Chiyoda, Tokyo. The scope of work and work location may change to locations designated by the company, including telework locations. A reference check may be requested during the selection process.
