Advise senior financial-market clients on rates workflows and Bloomberg solutions, support sales opportunities, shape product development, and represent the service at events.

About this role

The Market Specialist, Rates supports Bloomberg Sales as a subject-matter expert on rates markets. The role consults senior decision-makers at client accounts, advises on market and workflow challenges, helps close new sales opportunities, and explains how Bloomberg products and technology can address client needs. It also represents the Bloomberg Professional Service at market events and through printed materials.

The specialist develops detailed knowledge of industry trends, the competitor landscape, buy-side and sell-side workflows, and target operating models. Responsibilities include building a roadmap of initiatives aligned with product, sales, and company goals; maintaining checkpoints; reporting successes and challenges; participating in projects that support departmental and firm-wide goals; and finding additional ways to contribute through mentoring, training, campaigns, and product enhancement.

The role provides feedback to product management and product development teams, contributes ideas that may influence product direction, and connects Bloomberg decision-makers with clients. It may also involve writing for publications and speaking at internal and external events.

Candidates need at least seven years of experience covering Rates in sales, trading, or portfolio management. They need knowledge of buy-side and/or sell-side client workflows and the ability to analyze those workflows toward an optimal target operating model. The position requires concise explanation of complex ideas to small and large audiences, strong communication for senior client conversations and enterprise-workflow discovery, and a reciprocal, commercial approach. Candidates must be able to work within departmental and company-wide initiatives in a non-hierarchical structure without corporate titles, and demonstrate strong presentation, training, and communication skills in Japanese and English, as well as continuous career growth within an organization.

The position is based in Bloomberg's Tokyo office.
