About this role
This role will help create and execute medium- to long-term growth drivers for the communications and energy sector. The position is part of a newly established organization reporting directly to the sector director and will lead projects across new business development, M&A and investment, and management of existing businesses.
Responsibilities in new business development include identifying themes, developing business concepts, planning and managing proof-of-concept projects, creating alliance strategies, selecting partners, designing schemes, supporting negotiations, building revenue models, simulating profitability, and coordinating with sales, technology, accounting, legal, and other internal departments.
M&A and investment responsibilities include identifying and initially analyzing candidate companies, evaluating business synergies, developing synergy plans using group-company assets, and preparing and monitoring post-merger integration plans. Sector-wide management work includes analyzing revenue and cost structures, proposing improvements, defining and managing management KPIs for group companies, standardizing and automating management-reporting formats, improving BI tools, and advancing shared initiatives such as cost reduction, procurement integration, and IT-platform optimization.
Required experience includes at least approximately three years in new business development, involvement in business plans or medium-term management plans, and experience leading projects while engaging diverse stakeholders, including executives. Experience in corporate planning or business planning, consulting firms, investment banking, or venture capital is welcomed. M&A experience in company analysis, due diligence, valuation, or PMI is also welcomed. The role requires the ability to structure complex business and management issues logically, make proposals based on hypotheses and facts, build consensus among stakeholders, and learn about areas such as AI, GX, and next-generation communications.
The new team currently has three members and is located directly under the sector director. Onboarding includes meetings with the sector director and group-company executives, followed by assignment to an initial project based on the candidate’s experience and strengths. Work is primarily on the job, with participation in projects as an immediately effective member. The position is full-time and uses a flextime system without core hours, with standard working hours of 7 hours 30 minutes per day and a 60-minute break. Remote work is available up to twice per week. The work location is Shinagawa, Tokyo. Annual salary is JPY 8,000,000 to JPY 15,000,000.
