AML/CFT Compliance Leader

The role leads financial crime prevention activities for Daiwa Securities Group, Daiwa Securities and Daiwa Next Bank. Responsibilities cover planning, designing and executing group-wide AML/CFT measures, while improving their effectiveness and efficiency through close coordination with front-office departments and group companies.

The position also develops and implements measures to prevent and reduce customer harm from financial crimes such as investment fraud and phishing. Specific duties include providing AML/CFT guidance and support, conducting internal training and education, responding to changes in laws and guidelines, planning and executing transaction monitoring, handling relevant meetings, and preparing risk assessment documents and other documentation.

The role includes coordination with related departments, overseas subsidiaries and other group companies, as well as responses to relevant government ministries and external organizations. It also involves researching, planning and implementing measures for preventing financial crime victimization. The successful candidate is initially expected to work as a member and later become a leader.

Applicants must have either at least three years of experience planning anti-money-laundering measures at a financial institution or other specified business operator, or at least three years of experience planning, directing or advising on anti-money-laundering measures at the Financial Services Agency, Ministry of Finance or a consulting company. Candidates with strong potential may be considered flexibly regarding the number of years of AML experience.

Required capabilities include PC skills using Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word, and a strong understanding of laws and guidelines. Preferred qualifications include management experience, higher education related to law or legal qualifications, language skills, and experience using data-analysis tools such as SAS or programming skills in VBA or Python.

The position is a permanent employee role in Chiyoda, Tokyo. Working hours are 8:40 to 17:10 with a one-hour break. Holidays include two days off per week on Saturdays and Sundays, national holidays and the year-end and New Year period from December 31 to January 3. Annual paid leave is 17 to 23 days, with the initial amount determined according to the joining month. The posting also states hourly annual leave, nursing leave and childcare leave systems.
