Business Architect – Data Science & DX Promotion

This role develops new businesses and services by using the varied data held by JMDC and the Omron Group. Responsibilities include developing new businesses such as data-utilization services that use data science and machine-learning models; providing data-analysis consulting and formulating business strategies for industries including manufacturing and retail; managing stakeholders; and improving the value of services operated by business divisions and group companies through machine learning.

The position involves professional business development work and requires the person to drive projects proactively and independently. The role offers exposure to domain knowledge across multiple industries and experience developing new services that use data science and machine-learning models.

Required qualifications are logical thinking, practical experience as a business architect or consultant, and experience analyzing data in the formulation and deployment of business strategies. Preferred qualifications include experience leading or being responsible for new business development, experience developing business models that use machine-learning models, startup experience, and consulting experience across a broad range of industries. The stated candidate profile also calls for strong oral and written communication, the ability to act autonomously from problem definition through social implementation, interest in new areas, and a commitment to self-development.

The work is conducted in the context of healthcare and other industry data owned by JMDC and the Omron Group. JMDC’s business context includes anonymized medical big data, data analysis, support for health insurers and medical institutions, pharmaceutical safety evaluation, medical economics analysis, and health-related web services.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at the Tokyo office in Shibadaimon, Minato-ku, Tokyo. The work schedule is flextime with core hours from 11:00 to 15:00; standard working time is eight hours per day with a 60-minute break. Overtime is approximately 10 to 20 hours. The probationary period is three months from the date of joining and may be extended by up to three additional months if the company considers it necessary, under the same conditions.

Salary is undisclosed and paid monthly. It is determined under company rules with consideration of experience and ability, and overtime is paid separately. Salary revisions are made once a year in July. Stated benefits and provisions include health, pension, employment, and workers’ compensation insurance; a commuting allowance of up to 150,000 yen per month; a corporate defined-contribution pension; maternity, childcare, and nursing-care leave; condolence and celebratory payments; an employee stock ownership plan with an incentive payment; and a retirement age of 65. Holidays include Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, December 29 through January 3, and May 1 and 2. Paid leave is granted according to the stated service schedule, and a one-week vacation system allows up to nine consecutive days once per year. Additional measures include health-age incentives, club activity support, mental-health checks and follow-up meetings, overwork prevention, and indoor smoking restrictions with a smoking room.

The selection process consists of document screening, a first interview or casual meeting with group members, a second interview with group members and a web aptitude test, an interview with the department head, a final interview with an executive, and an offer. The selection process may change. The initial work location is expected to be the Tokyo office, and the work location and duties may later be changed to those designated by the company; any different arrangement is to be notified at the time of the offer.
