Enterprise AI Business Development

This role builds a new AI-focused business for the food distribution industry, serving manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers. The project addresses large amounts of judgment- and coordination-based work outside core systems, where existing ERP and SaaS products do not cover the full process. It uses AI agents, AI-OCR, large language models, and generative AI to structure unstructured data and automate business operations.

The role works directly with enterprise customers to understand their operations and organizational issues. Responsibilities include interviewing executives, business leaders, and frontline staff; mapping workflows and identifying areas where AI can contribute; and agreeing with customers on a desired future state.

The position leads customer PoCs lasting several months in close collaboration with product and engineering teams. It reports results to customer executives and supports decisions about full-scale implementation. The work also includes negotiating contracts, service-level agreements, data-use terms, and security requirements.

For each customer, the role designs an appropriate delivery model, contract structure, and pricing approach. After implementation, it monitors delivery quality with the team and connects the results to continued use and expansion. Successful use cases are converted into proposal processes, business-analysis templates, and KPI sets. Once an area has been standardized, it is handed to the existing sales team while the role moves to the next business theme, and common customer issues are fed back into the product.

Several enterprise PoCs are underway, and the team is determining which industry and workflow should become the first repeatable model. The core team has a single-digit number of members and works in close daily discussions with the CEO and CTO. BizDev and engineering are described as equal partners, with customer information influencing product specifications and technical constraints informing business decisions. The work is based in Minato-ku, Tokyo.
