IoT Product Business Development

This full-time role belongs to the CTO Division’s Technology Strategy Department and its DX Co-creation Team. The position develops business relationships with important domestic and international IoT and AI partners and industry organizations, gathers information on current developments, and helps create partnership strategies across Panasonic businesses.

Day-to-day responsibilities include building relationships with partners such as Google, Amazon, Apple and OpenAI, collecting relevant market and technology information, and working with individual business divisions to discuss and formulate partner co-creation and competitive strategies for specific projects. The role also includes negotiating Japanese- and English-language software license agreements and advancing collaboration with external partners. Work is coordinated with Panasonic’s direct R&D organization, product and service planning teams, and technical members at business sites.

Required qualifications are practical business development experience involving IT or IoT equipment and services, or practical experience in product planning or marketing. Candidates must have business communication and negotiation experience in English with overseas companies, including conversation and the reading and writing skills needed for business. A TOEIC score of 900 is a guideline, but practical experience takes priority. Basic knowledge of IT software license contracts in Japanese and English is also required. Experience or knowledge in developing IT or IoT equipment and service offerings is preferred. The role also calls for awareness of social and technological change, the ability to understand the value of emerging technologies, services and business models, broad internal and external knowledge, communication skills, stakeholder coordination, consensus building and the ability to lead initiatives proactively.

The position can be based at the Meguro Building in Shinagawa, Tokyo; Moriguchi, Osaka; or Fukuoka City, Fukuoka. Remote work is available, with attendance at the office approximately two to three days per week. Domestic travel between Tokyo, Kansai and Fukuoka is expected about twice a month, and overseas travel about once every three months.

The position is permanent and includes a three-month probationary period with no change in conditions at regular employment. Training includes new-employee, role-specific, business-site and level-based programs, external training, business literacy, liberal arts and online learning, as well as overseas study, trainee and training programs.
