Junior Research Banker

This permanent full-time role supports the Corporate Strategy Advisory Office as a junior research banker. The office was formally established in October 2024, and its research bankers have experience as research analysts. The team mainly advises listed companies on corporate strategy matters including equity finance and M&A.

The role focuses on supporting research bankers in preparing proposals and managing data. Responsibilities include collecting, entering and processing data and information; creating, editing and refining charts and graphs; and editing slide layouts. Depending on prior experience, the position may also involve writing and preparing parts of presentation materials. The broader advisory work addresses financial, investor relations and M&A strategies intended to improve client companies' corporate value, and includes presentations, discussions with management and support for idea generation across investment banking departments.

Applicants must have basic PC skills and be able to prepare materials using Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Business experience, communication ability and basic financial and finance knowledge are required. The role also requires a high level of motivation and a proactive approach to work. Business English reading and writing skills are welcomed, but are listed as a preferred qualification rather than a requirement. Financial business experience is not required.

The initial period is generally office-based until the employee becomes familiar with the work. After that, working from home one or two days per week is possible. The workplace is in Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Working hours are 8:40 to 17:10 with a one-hour break. Holidays include a two-day weekend, Saturdays and Sundays, public holidays and the year-end and New Year holidays. Annual paid leave is 17 to 23 days, prorated for mid-year joiners, with hourly paid leave, nursing leave and maternity and childcare leave systems also provided.

Salary is discussed according to company policy, with details provided during the interview. The planned intake is three people. Smoking is prohibited during working hours. The scope of duties may be changed to duties designated by the company, and the work location may be changed to a company-designated location, including a telework location.
