Mid-Career M&A Strategy Specialist

This full-time role leads M&A execution for freee’s strategy of expanding its integrated management platform for small businesses. The position covers the full transaction process, from planning and managing financial, legal, labor, and systems due diligence through contract negotiations, closing, and post-merger integration. The successful candidate will work closely with freee’s management team, participate in decisions linked to corporate value, and identify and secure potential growth opportunities.

Key responsibilities include planning and managing due diligence, advancing negotiations and the closing process, and serving as the project management office for PMI. The role includes preparing and supporting the execution of a 100-day post-acquisition plan, creating decision-making materials for the investment committee, and facilitating related discussions. It also involves working with internal business divisions to create synergies after an acquisition. Depending on experience and interests, the person may identify promising M&A or alliance candidates, conduct initial negotiations, and perform business due diligence.

Required experience includes execution work such as due diligence within an M&A process, involvement in M&A or investment decision-making, leadership of complex projects, and the ability to involve relevant stakeholders in delivering work. The posting also seeks logical thinking, strong communication skills, the ability to create a path forward in ambiguous situations, personal initiative, and a preference for achieving results as part of a team.

Preferred backgrounds include FAS, strategy consulting, corporate planning, investment roles at an operating company, corporate development, or investment banking. Experience leading M&A negotiations, managing a team, working in the software or SaaS industry, or working at a startup or rapidly growing company is also welcomed.
