Prospective Business Unit Leader (Post-Consulting)

The position is for a prospective business leader with a post-consulting background. The person may join JMDC or a group company in management, management support, or business development, with a possible future role as an executive of the JMDC Group. Initial placement may be in a specific JMDC business, as a management executive including a CXO at a group company, or in the PMI Office supporting several companies or businesses. Placement is discussed based on prior experience and career preferences.

The role covers business development from business-strategy planning through proof of concept and commercialization. Depending on the assignment, responsibilities include sales, consulting, marketing, product development, project management, and organizational management. The person will examine opportunities across JMDC and its group assets, form and drive company-wide or cross-group projects, and move opportunities into businesses, including work involving parent company OMRON. Planning and execution of M&A and PMI, and participation as a group-company CXO or other management member, are also possible.

Potential areas include business development for pharmaceutical companies; insurance and financial services; corporate health, wellbeing, and health insurance associations; new businesses with non-healthcare companies; and AI, data science, or DX-related ventures. The role operates in a healthcare and medical-big-data context that includes PHR, medical-institution DX, online consultations, clinical-trial DX, AI drug discovery, consulting, analysis, and DX-support services. JMDC also works with group companies and is exploring business opportunities in Singapore and other Asian countries.

Applicants must have consulting experience at a consulting firm or think tank, with approximately two or more years as a guideline. Manager experience at a consulting firm, experience in healthcare or finance-related companies, new-business development, M&A or PMI, AI/data science/DX, or founding or managing a business are welcome. The role seeks people interested in business-model transformation and business impact, able to carry new product or service development through, and comfortable working with specialists from different fields.

This is a full-time position at the Tokyo office in Shibadaimon, Minato-ku, Tokyo. The company states that the workplace supports work-life balance.

Indoor smoking is prohibited in principle, with a smoking room available. The initial workplace and duties are expected to be the Tokyo office and this position, subject to the company-designated changes.
