IT Consultant / Business Development

This full-time role combines IT consulting and business development at an Energy Tech startup working to address inefficiencies in Japan’s electricity industry through technology. The position supports major corporate clients as a DX partner, covering consulting, bespoke system development, maintenance and operations, while also contributing to the expansion of the in-house BF Cloud product.

Day-to-day responsibilities include interviewing and discussing DX issues with stakeholders at leading Japanese companies, understanding client needs, defining requirements, designing projects, preparing client-facing materials, sharing progress in regular meetings, building continuing partnerships, and identifying additional DX opportunities. Example projects include moving business processes at a major construction company and a major electric power company from Excel-based management to BF Cloud, as well as improving BF Cloud through customer interviews.

The role can be involved across the process from structuring clients’ operational issues and planning DX strategies to system implementation and operation. It also connects customer problems, market needs, and product development to support the growth of the product business. The team operates in the energy and electricity infrastructure domain. The company was established in November 2024 and has an organization of around a dozen people. Required qualifications are persistence in addressing difficult client or industry problems, a strong interest in and willingness to learn technologies such as AI, data, and software, the communication ability to build trust with clients and team members, and the initiative to learn and take on unfamiliar areas. Preferred experience includes IT consulting or system implementation projects, project management such as PM, PMO, or PL work, and client negotiation or coordination.

The employment type is permanent full-time, with a three-month probationary period. Annual compensation is stated as JPY 5 million to JPY 15 million, determined according to experience and skills. The monthly range is JPY 416,667 to JPY 1,250,000, including a base salary range of JPY 301,317 to JPY 903,954, fixed overtime pay for 45 hours, and fixed late-night pay for 20 hours. Any overtime or late-night work beyond those amounts is paid separately.

The position is based in Minato, Tokyo. Working hours use a flextime system with no core time, eight standard working hours, and a one-hour break. The stated arrangement is five days per week in the office; remote work is permitted only when health or family circumstances require it. Holidays include weekends, public holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, and other company-designated days. Annual paid leave is available, with up to 10 days in the first year depending on the joining month and 11 to 20 days from the following year. Annual holidays total 125 days. Benefits include a JPY 50,000 welcome payment with the first salary, book-purchase assistance, regular health checkups, company-leased housing, commuting expenses, and influenza vaccination. Insurance coverage includes health, employees’ pension, employment, and workers’ accident compensation insurance.
