About this role

This role works directly under the CEO to create and lead new businesses that can become TBM’s next business pillars. The successful candidate will develop concepts for the third and fourth pillars beyond the company’s materials and resource-circulation businesses, and build them from zero to one together with the management team.

Responsibilities include identifying customer problems and business opportunities, conducting market research, preparing business plans, setting and measuring KPIs, managing progress, and driving new-business growth. The role may cover environmental, materials, AI, and other growth-industry areas. It also includes building co-creation schemes with universities, research institutions, startups, and large companies, including proofs of concept, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions.

The position participates in investment decisions and management meetings with the CEO and executives. After launch, responsibilities include business promotion, PMO activities, organizational design, alliance execution, people management, and establishing operating rules. The role also involves discovering internal business seeds and developing and scaling new ventures with TBM members.

Required experience includes at least five years of practical experience launching or developing new businesses from zero to one at an operating company or startup, and at least three years advancing businesses in cooperation with executives. The posting also requires strong marketing, sales strategy, project management, negotiation, consensus-building, and BS/PL and profit-and-loss management skills. Candidates are expected to make and execute decisions with speed and flexibility and to handle detailed coordination while maintaining a broad business vision.

Experience founding a company, planning or successfully advancing a new business, raising funds, or managing new-business, corporate-planning, or business-planning projects at a consulting firm is welcomed. Business English is also welcomed.

The company works in environmental materials, carbon recycling, and resource circulation, and is developing an AI-related business. The role can use TBM’s networks, customer base, technologies, and other existing assets. The position is based at the company’s headquarters in Yurakucho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.

Working hours are 9:00–18:00, including a 60-minute break. Holidays include Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and December 30 through January 3, with 120 annual holidays. One holiday workday per year may occur for the TBM CAMP off-site meeting. Employment is full-time. Salary is determined under a monthly daily-rate system based on experience, skills, and potential, with an annual salary from 7,000,000 JPY; salary revisions occur twice a year. Benefits listed include a housing allowance, relocation and furniture-moving support subject to conditions, commuting allowance up to 30,000 JPY, special leave at joining, shortened-hours options, and award incentives.
